I thought the G* thread had hashed out the viability issue of G* many times and the conclusion was and is that it is not only viable but it is likely to be a big cash generator.

Regards,

Skip Paul:

I don't know where you live, but 5 minutes from me there is no service, no roaming, only a loud shout is worthwhile. That is the case in much of the midsection of the country, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile......................

Ooooh.. Roaming. Sore subject.

I think Sprint analog roaming is typically about $0.60 if you don't have the same digital service in your area. Sprint's existing long distance network should enable them to be a formidable wireless provider over the next ten years. But, they don't have any spectrum around where my parents live.

I have paid $3.00 a minute to call a california 800 number from Chicago (1996). Don't know about you but I would rather have my eyes poked out with sharp sticks than try to roam overseas with any handset. My bill would look like the VIN number on my car!

Will I buy a Globalstar phone? Well, no. I don't travel more than two weeks out of the year.

It is frustrating to realize I had to dial some number or give the phone mouth-to-mouth to enable roaming on a different system. Since this should be easy to fix, I wonder if Fraud problems have caused roaming to be a bigger pain?

That is unfortunate.

I am still trying to get my current Cellular provider to explain to me why no one can reach me when I am in Las Vegas. I thought half of Southern CA visited Las Vegas every weekend. Sigh.
