Personally, I frequently find interesting/useful information among the posts on the Yahoo ASND board. I gather you do, too, otherwise you wouldn't waste your time. For several other stocks I follow, I actually prefer Yahoo's boards.

I understand that Yahoo exercises very little control over the posts, and there is an alarming tendency toward personal attacks, but why the sudden invective against Yahoo? That is the type of post I'd expect there, not here.

If you follow both boards, you should know that several posters frequent both.

I looked at last 5 days' intra-day charts for ASND ... looks like 3 out of 5 showed the tendancy to up later in the day (professionals active later in the day) ... looks like now we are headed higher also, at this moment ... so it will be 4 out of 6 days then!

regards,
-/Sonny.

like i said many times before take everything you read with a grain of salt, this was a
rumor that was passed on to me and i believe it.

My goodness Tim, are you still pushing the $50 stock takeover idea? Come on, can you look at the stock prices when you allege this deal occured, and see that Mory would have been giving away ASND with no takeover premium? Again, I repeat:

Jan 98 stock prices:

LU ~40
ASND ~25

Your suggested stock swap ration: .6 LU for 1 ASND

ASND takeover price: 25 x 0.6 = 24

ASND takeover premium: 24 - 25 = -1

Did I make that simple enough for you? Call it quits, Tim. If there is a deal already done, then it would have to be for much more than .6LU/ASND. I propose .875LU/ASND, which values the takeover at $77/share for ASND based on current LU stock price.

Quick question Tim :

With your theory of ASND having an under the table deal with LU at 50, will you be shorting ASND as it approaches 50?

Dear Tim,

As you know we have had discussions in the past. I still only read Rudolph, Korn, and your postings. The others just seem plain and simple "dumb."

My take on the ASND - LU Deal. Having sources very close to me at home, I have finally managed to get an "off the record" remark from someone who's information regarding ASND has NEVER been off. Unfortunately, I can not reveal my source, ever.

Lucent Technologies will purchase Ascend Communications before October 21, 1998. The estimate for purchase price is currently .65 to .70 per share (depending on market conditions).
Lucent is strongly considering adopting a new name, it is still under discussion, the name is ASCENT TECHNOLOGIES, very catchy.
Look for large dumping of top ASND exec's of their stock, as when merger happens, they will be prevented from doing so (for whatever reason I don't know).
Lucent Technologies will release tentatively Feb. 1, 1999, code name Millenium. Which will offer companies all the services that LU, ASND and its many subsidiaries can offer in one package, at a very, very attractive price, with, in some cases, unlimited technical support. This project is directly targeted at Cisco, as are negotiations under way to bring several key people from Cisco to LU over the next 12-16 months.

...As I said, I can not reveal my source, if what I say goes down, we should all be very happy campers. If it doesn't then both you and I can eat our postings!

Good luck,

Jamie
