mmv, it is hard to give a sell signal when you ridicule others for giving sell signals. if the market goes up then, by his own admission, he's an idiot worthy of ridicule.

I don't agree. He has said "Reduce Msft from 4% COST basis to 4% Value basis" and has had no complaints even though Msft is up over 70% this year. One must SELL to REDUCE.....8) If people understand the reasons for the sell call, they are informed enough to make their decisions and take responsibility.

Skeets, in that respect I admire Bob - he has a conviction on the market and sticks to it. Never waffles.
What I am puzzled about his "model" (if in fact there exists a quantitative "model" that backs his intuitive calls) is that he uses numbers like short-interest ratio, put-call ratio, bull-bear ratio as sentiment indicators. These are nothing but one form of TA, which is to "read" the heard. At the same time, he calls TA as black-magic. A big contradiction.
You know what my take is on TA. It is good complement to FA and should be used discretely, not blindly. What I am saying is that there exists a stage in the market all those indicators Bob uses to make market calls will give him a buy signal when in fact it is a screaming sell. I think we are at that juncture. If I am wrong, there are hardly any people who have anything to loose. But if Bob is wrong, well...
Good luck!

S:

Are you saying that BB has painted himself into a corner by deriding the bears? If so, that seems to me to be a good point. He is not in a good position to suddenly change his call after criticizing others so strongly for doing the same. Makes you wonder what it would take for him to call a bear market.
