Zoltan,

RE: Wrong. The Second Amendment was written by those who knew that government tends toward tyranny and that an armed populace may be the only means to abrogate such tyranny. The Founders had just done precisely that.

In your zeal you misread me. Perhaps you too are to eager to generalize?

In no way did I suggest that your interpretation of the second amendment is invalid. Indeed, I consider your interpretation to be another subject worthy of discussion (by someone else) at another time. What I do question is the motive(s) the founding fathers had for writing it. It is that motive which history books have been lobbied, with scattered success, to revise in recent decades. That too, you can check out yourself.

To suggest the founders of this great country had any concern that we may need to revolt against our OWN country via our right to bear arms is simply revisionist nonsense.

For that they invented the election.

B.

P.S. Thanks for the link. I found it very interesting.

<<<The whole Constitution is about limits on government and the right to bear arms was placed next to freedom of speech in importance. To say otherwise shows such proponents to have little knowledge or perspective concerning US history or are just advancing an agenda contrary to the interests of freedom.>>>

This is also backed up by Supreme Court decisions.
