*o.t.*

IMHO...I think there are a LOT of places tax money could be saved and our taxes cut. What is the magic date now when our earned dollars actually end up in our pocket, I seem to recall early May...and that doesn't represent all the other taxes we pay. Unfortunately because of all the special interest groups, political agendas, etc, etc the areas that should be cut would be spared. We all know there is a reasonable center the government needs to find, the problem is do we have the right people who can navigate us there and how do we identify them?

I am with you...there's no way I would want us to cut taxes to the point we weaken ourselves and run the risk of implosion. At the same time We need to keep in mind one of the reasons many people came to America over 200 years ago..."over" taxation in their own country.

TigerPaw, you make some excellent points (We cats need to stick together!). One of the major problems facing Russia is the fact that there is an absence of government. You can't run an economy where businesses and citizens alike sense a modicum of security without providing the infrastructure required to maintain the country. You need a postal system, you need a road system, you need banking regulations, you need a court system, you need an education system -- the list goes on and on. But in order to fulfill those needs you need a government with a taxing system to sustain them.
