One of my friends, who works for ORACLE is having
a hard time with a Gateway he recently bought.
I can get a generic box with better components
than a Dell with the same guarantee for about
60% of the price a DELL cost. If you need all the software
Dell's include they aren't a bad deal. I don't need it,
so for me a Dell would be a waste of money. I haven't seen the IMACS
yet but they look cool in the commercials. However, at least some
models have no A drive.

Have you ever seen the new Apple iMac pc?

That's probably not a good suggestion if you're attempting to talk somebody out of buying one -- they look a lot better than even the photographs would suggest. And 1 out of every 8 iMac are apparently being sold to former Windows users.

I any case, I think Joe was talking about higher-end Macintosh. The iMac is primarily a lower-cost, entry-level consumer system.

But while we're on the subject, I suggest you have a look at the following article from BusinessWeek Online:

<http://www.businessweek.com/cgi-bin/frameloader?left=bwdaily/reframe.htm&right=cgi-bin/bwdaily?right=dnflash/aug1998/nf80831a.htm&lwidth=146>

If I ever buy a pc I'll probably get a
Dell or a Gateway.

You mean you're not posting from a computer now? I'm impressed.
