I wish I knew what the possibility of a LU and ASND merger is!! The date for freedom to do a merger (use LU stock to buy another company) is sometime in October 1998 I believe. I agree with you that there is a risk it could be bad for the stock price short term as we see if they will make a success of it or not. It will be very interesting to see if LU really wants to make a big acquisition like ASND or not. ASND has some very good customer relationships and some great products I have heard. They look attractive in many ways I am sure. I just think that LU "may" have the ability to produce the products and new relationships it needs to compete without buying ASND. I do not fully understand their product lines and their technology, patents, etc so I am being cautious here about the "fit" that would take place if they were to merge. I agree with you that the street may take a wait and see attitude if LU makes a big blockbuster purchase in the fall or winter. It could really set the stock price back for awhile. How long that might last I do not know. I would also like to hear other opinions on this. I know there are many people that have said the merger of LU and ASND would be great. Good luck!! Jeff Tarver
