Robin, What they're saying is that you can only make total trades for the day equal to your cash or margin buying power.

For example, let's say your total buying power was $30,000. If you bought psft for 30 this morning and sold it for 32 later today then you cannot buy any more stocks today since that one purchase exhausted all your available capital. Even though you've sold it you don't have the proceeds available to you that day.

Hope this helps. And it's not unique to Suretrade.
Melissa

Robin,
I believe that in suretrade you can buy and sell the same security on the same day and use the proceeds to buy a different security that same day. However, you cannot buy the same security back that day. I used suretrade for about 6 months before they kicked me out for violating this rule 3 times. Their dbase is not updated real time, and on many occasions i overbought the same security on the same day.

i now use datek, where u can do whatever u want no restrictions as long as u stay within your buying power. They actually prevent you from placing an order if it exceeds your buying power. unlike suretrade they have a good customer service which is available almost immediately. suretrade makes u wait for almost 45 min. before answering calls. u could be dead duck by then.

i hope that helps.
