This (phone survey)certainly is an interesting development. We can only speculate about it right now- but hey, if you're reading the XOMA thread, you must be a speculator (or wannabe).

The only time I was ever called by a company was about voting for a reverse split. The company was for it. They got it pushed through (and I sold out). This was the bottom for the stock price too, I might add.

I think you are right- someone wants to buy up XOMA, and they want to see how low it can go before they make their offer. They may have even been the driving force behind the recent sell off.

It certainly smells fishy to me.
