Second public appearance for Clinton as he tries to shift focus

OAK BLUFFS, Mass. (AP) - Emerging slowly from the shadow of personal controversy, President Clinton received an unqualified vote of support from black civil rights activists today.

"Mr. President, my friend, my brother ... I will stand with you from now until the end,'' Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., said, welcoming Clinton to a celebration of the 35th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream'' speech.

Clinton accepted the rhetorical embrace with modest gratitude before launching a tribute to King. The president recalled "weeping uncontrollably'' as he watched the speech on television when he was 17.

Questions for the thread: How many of you actually believe the "weeping uncontrollably" part? Did anyone else you know weep upon hearing the speech?

I fear Mr Clinton is lying. Again.
