we will see if 8000 holds. i do not know how old you are but in
1987 we had a similar friday ( although thursday was not as rough).
everyone in 87 expected the market to open to the upside after
a short test, just like today, they are all long term investors. time will
tell but monday and tuesday should be the pivot point. by the way, in 87 , monday was the pivot point down , i also was an investor in 73 -74 when the president was in the process of impeachment hearings.
that was just a slow bear market.

Marty you are so right! Is there any institution more irresponsible than the mass media? Thank god for the internet. I hope the Ted Koppels et al disappear off the face of the earth within the next few years. They don't really believe in much except for one thing- that free markets and the free flow of ideas is the root of all evil in the world.
It's amazing how the media overplayed this dumb boring Lewinsky story while asian economies involving billions of people are crashing and while terrorists every day are plotting massive new murders of innocent americans. But it isn't politically correct to dwell on terrorism so they would rather talk about princess diane or Monica. They truly disgust me. Only the American government is in their league in terms of all out evil.
Anyway I agree with you about an imminent rebound in mrvc. In fact a friend of mine got in in a big way around 6 on friday and I am thinking about getting in also. I normally buy options but at this price I get to buy the stock for what I normally pay for the option so it looks like a good deal. Hard to believe they got hit so hard for missing earnings by a supposedly small amount. What do you see as a short term target for mrvc? I personally see next week as a good chance for the bulls to start a decent rally, but I've been thinking that for a while and it just hasn't happened. The market hasn't been able to rally for more than 2 days for like a month now. But with all the traders returning to work this week I think there is a good chance for a rally. Of course, that would provide a nice chance for us shorters/putters as I still expect to see 7400 sometime in October before a true long term recovery starts.
