judy, nancy.. I'm considering something else. The 'earnings plays' have been good in this down market although I have been 'chicken' to get in more than half of them because of the market climate. How was I to know that CXIPY would choose this of all times to go up that much? Point is that now with earnings season coming on and I've got some picks even for next week that I think will buck the trend, will the good earners do BETTER than they have before? Is there a reason that stocks like JDEC, CXIPY, CMVT, TOL, LCOS went up that much in a down market. In some cases they went up MORE than they would have in an ordinary market. TAXI and REXI recovered ONLY because they are fundamentally very strong.. Are we to assume that we should play the market on both ends, long and short through end of October?.. I think the answer to that is yes.. That is why I'm doing even more research than before on this phenomenom. Options Jerry is of a similar opinion that there will be earnings warnings (as usual) and the stocks will be hit harder than usual, yet the good earnings might be rewarded more than usual as well. I'd like to try this through the season but with smaller trades.
