yes and no. earnings plays become harder because of forward looking statements - some would come out with excellent numbers but a mild, boiler plate type of caution in their forward looking statements will be a kiss of death in this environment - thus make the earning plays much harder. JDEC is even harder to do, given its competitor is PSFT a former highflyer, and is getting killed.

smaller trades are a must - preserve capital is more important than making money in highly uncertain time.

I also think market is into the phrase of re-pricing stocks, many outrageous multiples will be adjusted down to more "normal" level.

yes, one should always have both long and short at the same time. FA is the key. just look at how much financials have given away in last 2 weeks.
