Given the continuously increasing global population, however, I see little hope of things improving. Without government regulation to force us to do less economical (and cleaner) things, we will continue creating waste at the current rate. For a wealthy nation like the US, these kinds of regulations might not be too costly, but other nations might not be able to bear the economic burden and still compete. Aaron PS - I own a motor boat and enjoy using it. I realize that its engine does pollute the ocean, but modern engines are much cleaner than older ones - so the trend is going the right way. I would be willing to buy a cleaner running engine for a higher cost if there were one available.
