Aaron, what a nice post! It is nice to see a new person over here who is concerned about the environment.

I read a serious news article the other day about over two billion people not having access to clean water, and that this would soon go up to almost three billion. Of course, there are a lot of people here who argue that there is still plenty of room on earth for more of us, but I really disagree. The ecosystem is much more complicated than just having a few square yards of land per capita.

I think all nations will be forced to institute strict environmental standards, or perish eventually. Seeing all the Asians wearing face masks so that they can breathe on their way to work doesn't seem to be part of creating a sustainable, affluent way of life. Maybe one positive aspect of the almost total global collapse that seems to be occurring is that some time has been bought to enact environmental standards that are fair to developing nations. Of course, however, it is America that is dragging its foot on enacting the Kyoto agreement, just like it is America which insists that land mines may be bad for people everywhere, but that we need them for our military defense. What rot!

Are you familiar with Orbital Engine boat motors? My understanding is that they are much better for the planet than most. It is a small Australian company.
