Dr. Gleitman, thanks for the article. Interesting reading. One more view point on the situation. The common thread that I've noticed from all the articles, interviews, and ranting/raving, is that everyone thinks that investors should sit tight. Things will more than likely stabilize, and the markets should turn-up. I for one may cut-off all news and market information and come back on January 2nd to see how everything worked out. <ggg>

What's you "take" on the situation? Are you calling for a bear or correction?

**Look at Byron Wien think (knew) about fundamentals:

Russia: That's primarily the major German banks and some hedge funds and
they've already been hurt. I think the German banks can deal with this and I don't think the hedge
funds are a critical economic factor.

I don't think we're in a serious bear market because the economic fundamentals of the United
States are still quite favorable

The level of employment is still high. Interest rates are low. Housing
starts, durable goods orders are still strong

I don't think we're in a bear market.

One of the factors that could make me wrong is that profits are coming through worse than I and
others expected. But they are still positive. In spite of all the things that have happened, the
year-over-year profits are still above a year ago

I think they will be better in the second half than
they were in the first half.

next year is going to be a good year.

the Russian
situation doesn't infect the rest of Europe, long-term rates will head higher next year.

**This is what he feel (guess):

My feeling is that the market will end the year plus or minus 5 percent of its starting point.

This is what i say :

Let give him 100% right i still want to put my money on what he think (knew) not what he feel (guess)

i don't think he is 100% right but my husband say i never wrong
