John,

I also have been personally touched by your post, and as someone who has been badly burned by disgraceful management before, may I respectfully submit some advice that has stood the test of time:

Stocks that really have good products and great management go up, stubbornly climbing the wall of worry. At worst the MSFT's CSCO's Dell's and CPWR's decline only 10 - 15% before they continue that relentless march upward. On the few occasions that these all stars have corrected beyond that, the prudent move is to always sell and (believe it or not) buy again only when the issue breaks to a new high. So many investors are afraid to buy when a stock has hit an all time high, but a truly great company will turn the new high into a recent low in no time.

Conversely, when companies that you are SURE have great management and a terrific product start to correct for unexplained reasons and begin setting new lows, THIS IS DISASTER! It doesn't mean disaster forever, you could still buy the issue when it recovers to a new all time high. Longs trying to pick bottoms (or worse yet average down), is the single most risky thing anyone can do IMHO. Same for shorts trying to pick tops. You are much better off waiting for a 52 week low to short.

If you keep these very simple principles in mind, your recovery will be a hell of a lot quicker than you think right now!

Best to you, Cube
