I agree, although I'm not sure I like the "no matter how important" part. The question here is not whether this is a proper function of government, but how much protection each individual should have. Its obviously not OK to let industry spew pollution freely over US citizens, but its also not OK to handcuff them with such stringent regulations that they can't function in this country.

Thanks for the "hot tip". Unfortunately, I'm not in buying mode right now. I've been reducing my equity portfolio to buy real estate based on relative value arguments.
