This should not be the end of investing as we know it. Don't you think the 401ks and other periodic investment funds will continue to flow into the market. Now it is true that the money managers will likely take a wait and see attitude with those funds, but those funds aren't going to disappear altogether. Even if Japan and China continue to go south for a year, the money will continue to flow into the investments funds. Where will the money go? To bonds? They may be paying <5% soon. Isn't the money flow dynamic one of the key differences between now and the gloom and doom years of past depressions.
