Vepoc, thanks for an interesting post.

One suggestion: I would take statements such as the one about the Russian economy being smaller than Sainbury's with a grain of salt. Much of the economy in Russia is "off the books" i.e., underground and black market. (this was also true during communist days). These transactions by definition are not being recorded. Their total magnitude is anybody's guess but is presumed to be large.

The more things change in Russia, the more ...

That's a brave prediction you made that there will be no major unrest.

Geoff

BTW - What do you think of CPQ's Soviet style (if not inspired) pricing model? I'm referring to the fact that prices are decided not in each local market, where supply and demand would govern, but instead are set by CPQ authorities in Houston. CPQ prices are the same everywhere throughout the US. They are adhered to rather rigidly. Does this not remind you of the old Soviet central-planning model?

vepoc...The Russian economy or market is smaller than
Sainsburys? They probably also have more food.

If the CPQ investors on this thread wanted to do so they
could easily move the Russian index considerably.
Too risky though.

Emotional momentum can be upward or downward. We know which
way it is going now.

I'm trying to look for indicators that might turn it around.
So keep the European info coming. You don't have to stay up so late,
though.

During a Clinton speech he just promised support for Russia.

Thank you.

wont be possible since he still expects to be chancellor at that time)
