The evidence was still circumstantial. That can still be enough to convict - I am not passing judgement on OJ's innocence or guilt - only pointing out to those people saying that the "conspiracy theory" is all based on appearances and circumstantial evidence, that such evidence was enough for them with OJ. You don't always need a smoking gun to "prove" guilt.
