Hi Rob and all - been a while since a BigBull post Around the time of my last post on this thread I decided to clear out of this market in toto - 100%. This is where I've been sitting for the last 3 months. I began to listen to your posts about over capacity in the semi industry. I also started paying much greater attention to what FUGAZI and Charlie Tuna were saying. At that time I took a look at the LONG TERM charts of all semi stocks. The 3rd tier stocks like CY, IDTI, ISSI, CRUS, etc. were in confirmed bear markets. The second tier like AMD, LSI, CREAF, etc were on the verge of breaking down, and top tier stocks like INTC, DS, and MXIM were looking awfully toppy. The second tier are all now in confirmed bear markets. If Intel cracks 65 on a sustained basis that means something SECULAR is going on here! My reason - semis are now in mature markets and have become commodities (with a few notable exceptions) and are subject to the relentless pricing pressures brought about by the worldwide "info economy". Aka DEFLATION in all commodities. I am essentially agreeing with your post but am also suggesting that this MAY not be just another down cycle. Most weak companies will go bye bye. This idea is not new, (witness how Andrew Carnegie used recessions to own the US steel industry) just thought I'd rejoin the thread after this recent plunge with my 2 cents worth. BTW the long term chart for IDTI is OOOOOOgly. There is no real support until 2 or 3. Take a look at 5-7 year chart and you'll see what I mean. Sad, I hope IDTI survives. Due to the historically high VIX reading registered today I will be buying stocks tomorrow with flared nostrils, arched back, and slobbering lips. Got my shopping list, how about you? Any body got todays OEX put/call ratio? Bet it went through the roof! If the ratio went to 1.5 - 2.0 then buy buy buy. VIX hit 50 man! That's five oh people! BigBull is back and snorting. Hope I can keep avoiding the matadors sword.
