Hmm, encouraging words? Well, I suppose all of us longs can write covered puts that are deep in the money, and take the huge premium to stockpile cash. It seems that everyone wants to push down, so why not make some money off it? Covered calls may be a good idea too, but the premiums are probably nada now. IMHO, this is a sell-off that is long overdue. Inexperienced investors are heading for the lifeboats, leaving excellent discount prices to the well-disciplined investor. The buying may be, in many ways, even more violent that the selling has been in recent days. There is too much cash on the sidelines. Interest rates are still low, and inflation is still low as well. Though there are signs of possible slowdowns in the economy, I tend to think that these are temporary. Unemployment remains low, the fundamentals have not changed in the last week -- well except in Russia. I will not surrender this hill! later, geoff
