I don't disagree with you that some decline in demand merits a 50% price decline. But the market is never good at valuing a company that is hitting a speed bump. It extrapolates current results. And current results reflect slowing growth. Extrapolate slowing growth with no end in sight, and you get the current weakness in peoplesoft.

The market won't believe that PSFT's growth rate isn't doomed to perpetual slowing until it stabilizes at a steady rate.

I also think Y2K could cause growth rates to slow even more.
