The day I was at the pits at about 8:10 am cst there was a group formed behind the Goldman Sacs Index pit that was making quite a rucus. The trader I was with said that is where the settle the out-trades on the S&Ps. So I have to believe that they are settled in the morning prior to the open. I don't have any idea of the process and maybe the morning cattle call is simply to take care of those that are un-matchable or whatever by a computer.

I really don't know the process, other than there is a morning group that does some kind of out-cry process to settle out-trades.

Patrick,

Just heard on CNBC that some strength in the futures may be contributed to people covering there shorts to raise money to meet margin calls. In essence they are breaking their hedge.

Does this make sense??
