Well, this just bites. Can't access their site at all. No buy no sell nothing. I have been on hold for over half an hour. what's the jive?

They can say because of the excessive action, but this is something at least the web site should be prepared for.

Problems are you kidding????
Yesterday 2 minutes before the bell I put in a day order to buy DELL@99.75, I did not get it. I checked 3 hours later and sure enough the on line status said EXPIRED.
Today, the next day, I have a phone message from Ameritrade, today I bought that 50 shares on the order I put in yesterday ?

1. It was a day order, they state that orders placed between 4 & 4:30, will be discarded.
2. The status screen said Expired.

And yes to answer your question, the system is extremely slow.

Hi, August:

I was just going to ask the same question: Has anyone else
encountered difficulties in trading through Ameritrade? In recent
days, its server has become incredibly slow, almost impossible to
navigate during market hours. Also, its back-office server is broken
down just too often -- for example, as of the market's opening today,
Sept. 2, the "account balance" of the system shows positions as of
Aug.31. The firm keeps saying that it is upgrading its system. Instead
of spending large sums in actually doing so, it actually spends
millions in advertising to attract more customers, and thus clogging
up the system more. Does anyone know of an alternative online broker
which allows the complete range of options trading?
