Tue 1 Sept 98 News Release
Mr. Robert Pincombe reports
Activities have resumed on the company's Turner Valley lands in Alberta.
The Stampede et al TV 7-25-20-3 W5M deepening/drilling operation commenced
on Aug. 28, 1998. The well had previously been drilled and cased into the
top of the Regional Mississippian Turner Valley formation at a depth of
10,000 feet. The current program will deepen the well to about 12,000 feet
to test the Devonian Crossfield reservoir. Assuming success in this well,
plans will commence to bring it into production together with the
Crossfield gas discovery previously made about 10 miles to the south at the
Stampede Bcat et al Hartell 4-13-19-2 W5M well, along with planned
follow-up wells.
Curlew Lake has elected to convert its 5.0 per cent working interest in the
7-25 well to a 0.45 per cent GORR (gross overriding royalty). The company
holds a 10 per cent working interest in the 4-13 well which converts to a
2.5 per cent working interest after payout and interests ranging from 2.5
per cent to 5.0 per cent on other lands covering the projected reservoir.
Field operations have also commenced on the final completion testing of the
Imperial Berkley Turner Valley 2-21-21-3 W5M well. This well has been
drilled and completed in a Regional Mississippian gas zone with
approximately 100 feet of net pay in a gross 126 foot Turner Valley
section. The program is designed to stimulate the reservoir with a
hydraulic acid frac to allow the well to flow to its full capacity and to
establish deliverability. It is expected that this well will be put on
production and follow-up drilling of this reservoir commenced before the
end of the year.
Curlew Lake holds varying interests ranging from 1.3 per cent in natural
gas and 2.2 per cent in oil in the 2-21 well and 2.5 per cent to 5.0 per
cent in most of the balance of the acreage held covering the pool.
