Baeslar has done an excellent job as a congressman in the 5th. He was also an extremely popular Mayor in the city of Lexington. It's all about tobacco in Ky. and he's one of the biggest supporters. I was just trying to remember the last time Kentucky had two Republican senators. I'm doubting there ever has been. I don't think Ford would have given up his seat if there was any chance that Bunning or any other Republican would take his spot. Kentucky for the most part is a heavily democratic state. However, don't tell Mitch that. Last Republican governor in Kentucky was Louie B. Nunn,(2nd cousin on my father's side) some 30 years ago...
