Well Eddie, I've finally figured out what separates us. I invest in a company. I disagree with you -- you do buy the company. A stock certificate is a certificate of ownership of a share of the company. I am concerned with the long run financial prospects of the company.

If Bill Gates were indeed named a member of PeopleSoft's board, that would be interesting only in two contexts: what additional business could he steer the company's way, and is this a prelude to a takeover. Of course, if that were the case I would expect some SEC filings showing that Gates had assumed an investment position of greater than 5%.
