Mutual fund news-Money flow mixed-No panic.

Mazman:
Interesting news about investors and mutual funds.

Excerpts.

Schwab's fund supermarket calculated net outflows of about $2.8 billion for the month of August from the 2,000 funds it offers, Gordon said.

Conversely, Vanguard Group, the second-largest fund family in the nation, expected to report inflows of $1.5 billion to $1.6 billion into stock funds in August, said spokesman Brian Mattes. American Century expects slight inflows, Spanno said.

Some savvy investors are buying stocks on the dip, though perhaps not as many as last October, when the stock market suffered a record fall of 554 points, or about 7 percent, to 7,161 but quickly recovered.

''We have not seen a lot of panicky movement at all,'' said Porter Morgan, a senior vice president with Liberty Financial, parent company of Stein Roe Funds and Colonial Group funds. ''I think the retail investor has been much more calm and thoughtful about it than perhaps many of the professionals.''

Mazman: it was pure last minute panic, I had no need to sell anything, Fidelity (i have since found out) does not call they send a letter!!!!! I have a week in that case because letters are not that fast. And of course Dell was back just fine the next day.
Oh well.
Everything will go down again and I'll get my shares back (it was a small portion). Whats bothering me more than anything is that I panicked and did something I had not thought I would do. I'm disappointed in myself.
