I haven't looked too hard at FAE recently. At one time they were going to merge with one of Fidelity's open end funds. I don't know what happened to that plan - evidently it fell though. I do believe that FAE will likely (but not 100% sure) go open end in Q1 of next year after the vote in November.

Like you, I'm just watching right now to see what happens in HK and China. I think TDF is a good choice too, or will be in the future. At least Mobius seems to know what he's doing.

Oh, TDF just started that dividend payout thing - I suppose to help improve the discount. It hasn't helped the CEF discount all that much.

Have you tried to short TDF? I seem to remember someone else trying that with another CEF and found that shares couldn't be borrowed. I guess it probably depends upon the CEF.
