Oh I wasn't talking about whether it worked or not. I was talking about the putative oatmeal bath as an economic determinant. This is discussed very seldom and is easily overlooked. Don't discount it.

Now of course if I started talking about the possible effects of bathing in Cheerios, it would make sense for you to point out that my argument was full of holes.

How do you know that the oatmeal heiress you mention did not eat oatmeal? I think that's a pretty big assumption. I know for a fact that in the Jergens family they used Jergens Lotion. The important question to ask is, Was she a Quaker? I say that I bet she was a Quaker and I bet she ate oatmeal. To suggest otherwise sounds rather anti-heiress to me; and heiresses are a minority.
