"Why is Intel so Weak"? Answer:,Tom Kurlaq

When Merrill Lynch finally puts this character back into an office somewhere and away from the attention of the media, Intel will do well again.

Semi's are pretty weak today. I guess we need to wait till earning comes out.

Re: "Does anyone trade INTC on this thread? Why is it so weak?"

Day traders are taking advantage of world worries until outstanding earnings lay them to rest.

We're in a "bear trap" I hear that on CNBC today. I wonder if that means that there is a bear who has set a trap for us, or that the market bear got caught in a trap and can no longer move (effect us)?

George Bielski. Re: "Does anyone trade INTC on this thread? Why is it so weak?"

According to one pundit*, "Cisco Systems, Dell Computer, and IBM featured the high-tech area as investors sought companies with reliable earnings against the backdrop of uncertain profits."

The key is "reliable earnings." Until Intel demonstrates that it is back on track building earnings, it will stay in a trading range IMHO.

If your a long term investor, be patient.

George,

Re: Does anyone trade INTC on this thread? Why is it so weak?

It sure is weak today, as are a lot of stocks, but look at the bigger picture. This stock has been going up and down like a yo-yo for the past year, as investor's try to figure out when (and if) its earnings are going to get back on track. Why not play these predictable price movements? Buy now and sell when it hits 90 or so. Sure, CSCO and DELL are hot stocks, but can you guarantee that they will be up 20% in the next couple of months? With Intel, you've got as close as you can get to a sure 20% gain. Above that, it's anybody's guess.
