It's a bit baffling to me -- R&D is often cited as one of the underpinnings of an outstanding company Yes Indeed it is. But Wall Street wants to see a bottom line. Trimble's strategy would work perfectly if it were a private company. getting uncle Sam to fund it's R&D. But as a public company The R&D bit may have been overdone.
