WorldCom Inc. (WCOM) rose as much as 1 3/4 to 47 1/2 as
Lehman Brothers Inc. analyst Blake Bath reiterated a ''buy''
rating on the global telecommunications service provider, and
said he could see the stock reaching 75 in a year. Bath said the
prospects for the combined WorldCom and MCI Communications Inc.
(MCIC) remain solid and robust, with the merger about to close.
After the takeover of MCI is complete, the combined company will
reap substantial cost savings, and the combined company is likely
to embark on a product and marketing blitz that should highlight
the company's new services, which in turn should boost sales. MCI
rose as much as 2 1/8 to 58 1/2.
