So then .. the BOJ folks have been the beneficiary of margin calls, of late .. which helps lead to the rise in the yen .. OK.

When you asked about what time the bond pits opened, I had a thought that I'm going to have to explore.

Seems like one play that could be made in the AM would be to short the S&P futures, put the proceeds into bonds, wait until the open of stocks, then cover... Would work in a MOMO down market.

I have to look at the charts and see if I can spot that kind of action.

instead of looking for culpables all around the place ("who done it") go into a minute of navel contemplation. US is SO BIG, you can produce your own troubles without having to resort to imports.

What do you think was Greenspan's biggest problem since two years? Unsustainable growth of economy aka 1929. So far everything according to the time schedule. Next comes injection of liquidity - ie interest rate drop .
