Interesting, and there is logic to your suggestion. I imagine they would peg the price just slightly below my average cost of IDTI. Nah, it's probably too sensible a thing for IBM to do. How bout if I make an offer of one of my shares of IDTI for one share of IBM? Fair trade!

Let's hope IDTI's deal with IBM fares somewhat better than Cyrix'. There is a market for $699 PCs, Glenn Henry is a former IBM fellow, and it would take real financial staying power to buck Intel's monopoly in X86 microprocessors. AMD is finding that out.

It's an interesting day in an interesting world of equities, currency rates, and finance. I'm out of my league, and will head for the beach to stumble along and kick seashells. Regards, and keep the ideas flowing. Sam

Charlie

Nice idea, but. The article doesn't even mention IDTI as a possibility and surely the author must know about the fab agreement between IBM and IDTI. They will have a great microprocessor once they apply the IBM copper technology to the Winchip so it would seem like something IBM would like to own.

However, I'm like the rest of the folks that bought this stock and dream about a buyout. Keep dreamin.

Long IDTI.

Charlie Tuna: Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea MAXIMA Culpa

Sorry I didn't respond earlier to your post. Is that apology sincere? Only my concubine knows for sure.

Probably the reason I didn't respond was that I don't have a clue about IBM's plans and that's the TRUTH! Why anybody would want to get into the Intel clone biz now baffles me. Even Intel can't maintain their once astounding margins. It is my understanding that IBM don't make tons of money on their PC biz, rather they use PC's to sell their other higher margin stuff. They probably don't need Idt's RISC technology either.

Apples new box is selling like hotcakes, and guess what, it don't have no stinkin Intel chips. It's being sold as a convergence machine. The PC ain't dead, but it is most definitely MORPHING. Soon all media will be on the web. That market bring silicon into every home in America. The company that figures out the right configuration of convergence silicon SOC owns the future. If you find out who that is, do let me know! Pleeeeeeeaaaase?

BTW since I've become convinced of your brilliance, I've stopped buying all Starkist products. Does this make us partners in tin?

Well it looks more like a real rumor eh.
If you were IBM with all of there mfg ability
and in the pc business and kinda worried about
ol intel and also in the risc bus big time
(powerpc) and embedded processors not to mention
copper well now why in the ##!$# would you NOT
pick up IDTI on the cheap....just makes too much
sense.
Charlie still spreading "rumors" Tuna

Oh yea the interesting part is that they can
keep using cyrix thru Q199.
