I am a student of Russian military history, and have watched Russians with considerable interest when they started the big game in Afghanistan. I know many things about Russian army, their state of preparedness, fighting skills plus bad state of weapons one thing I know ''motherland'' is a concept which is very dear to Russians, they defeated a lot of Napolean's and Hitler's with their share resiliance and love of motherland, they will not burn it from within, they are submissive, imagine bunch of thugs under Stalin ruled these nice people for 70 years without recourse, look at the break of this empire not a bullet was fired even withdrawl of Russia from Afghanistan was much more humane than US withdrawl from Viet Nam, no naplams or incenerating weapons were indiscriminately used.. I am no big friend of Russia what Iam trying to highlight is their will to defy death and callous write iff by these smart asses who don't even know that Siberians and Russian Soldiers have been living on pittance for last four years, Russia 75% economy is barter, however it has come along long way the hands which did not let Nuclear weapons go hay wire in 92 during the coup or civil war will continue to help keep the balance.. Even in Afghanistan they were defending their legitimate area of concerns ofcourse they also wanted an action on Arabian Gulf a dream of Peter the Great, I think even as someone from a country who has seen Russians and engaged them as a proxy of US, I think they were very disciplined people, they would not bring a coup the one coup we had in Russia back in early 90's which brought the Union down was conquered by a counter coup of Yelstin on one tank, the Army refused to depose and listen to unconstitutional orders of the cabal-- the white house was once destroyed (Russian Parliament) without any threat of nuclear exchanges, the Army is disciplined they have gone without food for far too long and I think it is tragedy of highest human proportion that nation endowed with so much of riches is being tinkered with, the transformation from controlled economy to free economy is not an overnight phenomenon and these smart asses who are running the global finance should better realise that. Russia and all these post communist governemnts will become the engines of development, Hungary for example is a country which will soon match on PPP basis higher than Ireland and move up on the ladder to envelop the economy of Spain. I agree I am an eternal optimist may be I have seen death and hunger too many times from a very close angle but I know that markets in term of time span are interesting places we will see all this voltality but skeptics will loose like they have over number of years optimists will win.. I try to define every move from a non-partisan angle like weakness of $ and I think only time will tell if I am right or wrong I wish I could just see things the way others do- when I cannot I will write what I think is right without influence-- I try my best to put my point across and feel so happy that much stronger arguments refuting my claims are also made on this thread by much loved and learned personalities like James OJ Nemer and many others-- this dialogue needs to continue.. we need enlightened forum this is one place we are trying to discuss issues.. Please forgive me for making an impassionAte appeal for reason FROM MY heart..
