Whatever goes on in my head (if anything -g-) does not affect share prices, the direction of causation is opposite.

Don't we all? Some go long because it is a "quality company." Some are long because the stock is going up. Normally, these folks will find bullishness in any insignificant news. While this is also true to some extent with the bears, typically a person who is a bear is an evolved and seasoned investor. Of course, there are exceptions to every thing.
