Oh dear. Once more, I have to refer to the other place this came up recently. Of course, in that context the trail is perhaps a bit clearer, with the Edelman PR involvement and everything, but it was still all an X-files conspiracy.

See zdnet.com , reader talkback at zdnet.com and zdnet.com , and my personal little comment on those two readers at zdnet.com . Like Andy Grove said, only the paranoid survive. Bill had another public take on that, but privately, who can say?

On the general matter of antitrust and PR, I've often pointed to Intel as an alternative model. Let the lawyers handle it, it's a complex and arcane matter that most people wouldn't claim to understand, or even find interesting. It's taken real PR skill to turn it into the techno-geek trial of the century.
