"It doesn't seem possible for most tech related stocks to grow until Asia begins recovery." Your technical skills are far superior to mine but I don't see a recovery based on an Asian recovery. I think the DD industry needs an increase in demand. I understand that only about 15% of the sales have been to Asia so they can not be expected to increase the demand much. I am looking for demand increases based on school starting, Christmas season approaching, low prices, new hardware or software breakthroughs, faster modems for data transfer, etc. I hope some of these factors have an impact but I haven't seen much so far.

Raptech;

Thank you for your insights circa 9/3. I just got back from a vacation jaunt. I am a little more bullish than you are. My reasons have more to do with the specialist's behavior patterns than anything related to TA. We'll see.

Raptech;

Looking at Seagate's price moves this morning I can see that the specialist has closed his trap door and is moving back to former price levels. You've done well already. The question now is will he push the stock beyond its trading range with the upper band of 28 or 29? No one can say but my guess is that he will in October. I believe, he used the downdraft in the market to push the stock down to an accumulation level, expecting a better than anticipated earnings report in October. The next 6 weeks will tell the story.

RFC -- Hello all. I'm not a regular here so if possible please answer to my post (as oppose to its related follow ups). I have two questions: One I don't see too big of a demand problem; I see a very big supply problem. I think ultimately we need (and will end up with) only 3 drive makers. My guess is that they will be IBM, SEG, and Fujitsu. All others will die. Any comments?

My other question is about this news release:
============
IBM Corp. unveiled the world's smallest and lightest hard disk drive with a disk platter about the size of a quarter. IBM (IBM), a Dow component, said the drive could hold over 200 times more data than a floppy disk. Cannon, Hewlett-Packard (HWP), Hitachi and Minolta are evaluating the devices for integration into future mobile and hand-held devices. Shares of IBM fell 2 7/16 to 123 1/2.
============

Would you care to comment on how you see this affecting other drive makers esp. SEG?

thanks in advance
Sun Tzu
