Diamond - send me your resignation letter. As to MRK, well the pharmaceutical group staged a rally today after 2 days of small bounces. Some of the gains could be related to today and yesterday annoucements of new drugs approved by the FDA. I would say flurry of investor interest. Will it last? If the market resumes its LT course, they can't escape. NKE rebound - yes, they ought to. If you look around all the stocks, everyone felt the need to rebound after Monday's debacle. Those who had not rebounded much needed more rebound and vice versa - for the past 3 days at least. This shows to me moms and paps are doing their shopping regardless of big, mid or small caps. Everyone gets something. The issue at hand is will the market tanks further or will it trade sideway now. I am in the camp of saying we have not reached the bottom but can't see the scenario where we keep going down day after day. It has definitely not as easy to trade as last week for sure.

Some think the volume will be light tomorrow. Maybe. But with so many home traders, I think the volume will not be light but the volatility will be less as the big boys not participating. If there is no negative development tomorrow, we may even head up.

Diamond, I shorted NKE at the open yesterday and covered at close for 2 points. Received the benefit of NIN's bad announcement. I believe this caused many of the hanger-on longs that were about to leave to leave. So today was bargain hunting for those who knew NIN's impact - and thought NKE was due for a rebound coupled with short covering the way I see it.

Thean, I think we are in the same boat here regarding gold. I was looking to purchase some NEM or ABX and they took off today without me. If you are still interested in picking up gold please give me a game plan for entry at this point.

Tip of the Day - Never enter the fair's hog barn without earplugs at feeding time. Witnessed two enormous pigs knock over a teenage girl attempting to feed them and trap her in the corner. Every other time the pigs just lay there and sleep.

OT Diamond-
Please send me your school letters as well. They will undoubtedly be quite refreshing. I used to blame much of the problems I see with the public schools on the teachers. #1 is very poor academics (in WI the schools refuse to group according to ability, although in where we lived in Indiana they had an entire public school just for the fastest) coupled with pseudo science - Now know the parents share the blame.

School for our family is to learn the classical sciences and literatures, not to feel good about yourself or to be indoctrinated into new trends (including earth worship and moral relativism). Private schools have parents willing to pay for an appropriate education.

Know I'm in the minority here. Heck - We never even used babysitters until the children were able to talk - and that included the in-laws. <gg>
