I think the same stock price insanity occurred with Ballard Power BLDPF. They are a hot tech company that produces fuel cells. They were making contracts with most of the big automakers for the development of fuel cells to power automobiles. Very low emissions and great gas mileage, etc. The greatest thing, except no earnings and no potential for earnings for some 5-10 years. They also needed to work out some significant problems before there could be commercial application on any real scale. They did the 15 to $140 thing, did a 3 for one split, now down to $17, or $51 pre split, still in a down trend. AMZN's chart will I believe look something like this in a few months:

quote.yahoo.com

Although my personal opinion is that it will occur somewhat more quickly for AMZN as their situation is somewhat easier to understand. The negatives are also more obvious, as have already been pointed out here. Ballard at least had some exclusive technology. BTW Ballards earnings and profits are due to one time stock sales to Ford and Dailmer Benz.

Best Regards,

Derrick

Rob:Good points.A volatility rating for AMZN of 85 seems to make this a stock for short term trading with swings at times of 10-20 points a day. Today it had a swing of about 10 points.I think we are in a bear market and stocks like AMZN will fall hard.It is not only the internet stocks. Look what has happened to the bank stocks recently. These were stocks with PE's of 15-25 not a -114.50 like AMZN.I see AMZN in the 40's soon.
