I would think any half-baked amateur investor, of which there are about 35 million in the U.S. alone, might suspect that September would be the smart time to get out ahead of famous old October.

But crowd psychology was never my strong point.

Brad,

Yeah, it is scary, but it's the 'great' I question though. Still, while the investors are scared half to death, the other half will have their 'year' money, their one year notes, coming due about that time and they may actually start nibbling at stocks. I suspect it could well be the end of a very short lived bear market. Who knows.....
