XYZ <<As for "limiting conversations".... if they were only conversations, I could not care less, you can "converse" to your heart's content on the subject you wish, however, what some zealots around here and cronies are doing is not mere "conversations"..>> Actually, it is. People on this thread can address posts to you and you can ignore them. If you dont like them, dont read them. That is everyones right. <<As to proselytizing, (i.e.: "make converts"), I should "walk away"....? Nope, I do not think so.>> Okay, then dont. AGain, I am not a Christian, but Ihardly get offeneded if someone suggests I should convert to christianity. All you have to do is politely decline. <<The clear intent by the religious right, (i.e.: The Christian Coalition and cohorts, John Whitehead from the Rutherford Institute, et all), to impose their beliefs upon the Public Education system of this country.>> I am ahrdly in agreement with the religious right(I am a liberal Democrat)but they have the right ot believe and try to influence the culture of this country, to the same degree that you and I do. If most people disagree with them, their effect will be negligible. <<As it is the so call Public Education is already deficient as it is today, I do not need, (because it will affect me directly), the zealots imposing on the children of this country their stupid ideas, and NARROW frame of mind. >> they have every right to pursue their ideals for education, as we have the right to work against it. <<The football stadium size cults of "converts" and "christians" who believe women are here to be their servants and in essence. "second class citizens">> I fully support womens rights, but also support their right to meet and promote their ideas. <<SO NO I CAN NOT SIMPLY "IGNORE IT AND WALK AWAY">> Then dont. YOu are free to work against it. Hopefuly you do it with tolerance and respect. vitriol will only serve to push most people away from your ideals. <<It is simply against the law.....further, it is immoral in my view, that these people are attempting to impose their way, and only their way upon an entire nation. (and more)>> You are promoting the sam thing, just from a different viewpoint. <<And that does not include the rabid maniacs around SI that pretend to "revise" history and pretend that the holocaust is an exaggeration of some "media conspiracy" ????>> It is a waste of time, but they have that right. <<No it is not ONLY MY OPINION.... I have suffered from it, the immediate reaction to free thought is the attempt to impose "guilt on those who think differently, then "fear of god".>> that is a silly and untrue response. Of course it is only your opinion. No one can impose guilt on you. You are free toeither accept or deny any guilt. YOu are also free not to listen. <<As to beauty in religions.... please do not make me laugh.>> Beauty is where you find it, it is a personal observation. <<You know, some of your comments make you suspect, it feels as though you are telling me: "look we know we are not going to convince you, so we will not attempt this on you, but please do not bother us in our mission to "convert" the rest of humanity..... Meanwhile I will discuss this to death to see if I can convince you......" >> That is your folly, pure and simple. I had already told you that I do not belong to any organized religion, and have never tried to convert anyone, since I have nothing to convert them to. I can not help how you feel. My whole point is that I could care less how you youfeel about religion personally. The fact remains that in your quest to be free from religion you are just as dogmatic and "in your face" as many of the proslytizers that reprimand for the same action. That doesn teven include your feeling that you must denigrate the beliefs of all those who think differently. Mark
