G, That's pretty much what Dave said in the conf. call. He said he hasn't seen any indication of concern about the price on employees' parts. In fact, he said, many are viewing this as an opportunity to buy more.

Re: The conference call...I think it is worth everyone's time to listen to this...It's long but definitely worth it and I think they did an outstanding job of addressing the concerns.

Re: this y2k issue. PSFT said they have no indication that it is impacting them. If other companies do, is it not possible that this is a good excuse?? It's always better to have an external scapegoat than to blame it on your own competitive and/or execution issues. If I remember correctly, in the itwo conference call I thought they weren't seeing this either. Very interesting don't you think? What reason could psft possibly for have for saying they aren't seeing it other than they don't have a problem they can attribute it to.<g>

PSFT said they are gaining market share. SAP is losing market share. Though SAP is still larger the fact that they are losing share is significant. SAP's market share was 30% in 1995. At the end of 1997, it was 25%. I don't have PSFT's historical market share #'s but they said that at the end of 95 they were #7 in market share. They are now #2.

Another significant point is how much R7.5 is helping them significantly from an international perspective. They are now ahead of all other vendors except SAP and w/release 8.0 it will be a completely level playing field. They already today are recognized as having the best solution for the EURO. They also said that international revenues will grow. When you look at the % of total revenues represented by Intl. there is major growth to be seen. With 7.5 it seems to have started and should continue.

Interesting note: CPQ just replaced SAP's HR system with PSFT's. That's a nice win I would say.

Anyway, there was just so much good stuff in this call that I would be extremely surprised not to see the stock move up.

So...my conclusion....there may be some problem companies in this sector. My firm belief is that PSFT is definitely not one of them. I never thought they were. But hopefully this will help others to realize it...
