This is for everyone, not just Timothy.

I'm about to be handed several thousand lottery tickets - in the form of Intel options. I'm going to accept a job at INTC and I'd like opinions from this thread on what exactly my options will be worth in 5 years.

Now, no derisive snorts, please. I know that options are a 'gift' of sorts, and I know no one really knows what the market is going to be like in five years. I can and do listen to the professional analysts; what I want is the grass-roots opinion of where this stock is going. I have a lot of respect for the opinions on SI - I'm a member from waaaaay back - and, except for the occasional idiot, most comments are quite insightful.

My opinion is that there will be a sharp upturn in the price of the stock in mid-1999, after Katmai takes hold, and another upturn in late 2000, after Merced. Celeron and Xeon are just placeholders to keep Intel in the game - Celeron until Katmai comes out, Xeon until Merced.

It goes without saying, but I will anyway: my comments are my own and in no way represent the opinion of my soon-to-be employer.

Thanks for the input! Happy hunting.
