Lutz,
Peoplesoft was the first ERP to recognize the strategic importance of SCM imo. They acquired Red Pepper software a few years ago for around 200MM (?) which is a finite scheduling product I believe. Dell which is the showplace for SCM in action had not really exploded yet so there was far less buzz about SCM then than today - thats what really impressed me about that acquisition because if psft had waited 6 mos I doubt they could have bought RP for anything less than 400MM - just the hype factor. Anyway Im not familiar with the RP product line but it certainly is not as extensive as I2. I believe it competes with I2 and not manu in discrete mfg.

Having said that, I havent seen a lot of RP installations or activity in the industry, but being in Silicon Valley I have a warped view of the SCM mkt and Psft customer base (example: Oracle apps are big out here, because we are close to Oracle and Oracle had apps first). So I dont know how successful psft is with RP.

The other very important point about I2 vs Psft or any ERP is that the Dell model was achieved with a very simple mfg package (Chess) and I2 - no ERP at all. IMO, new internet based retailers may opt for this strategy which would put I2 in the drivers seat vs Sap or Psft. So, its not really prudent to assume that when Scope ships and Psft really pushes RP that I2 will be diminished.
