You (and the others who've offered thanks) are quite welcome; I've gotten a fair amount of info, pointers and entertainment from SI, so was happy to contribute something in return.

I've seen all kinds of postings here and on Yahoo about ADPT's FC offerings, some of which claim that they're inferior to the competition. I don't have any direct experience with FC, so have no opinion of my own here. But I've seen what appear to be credible discussions (many on Yahoo, surprisingly) expressing the opinion that Boucher & Co. are on the right track - i.e. advanced SCSI can and will eventually win out over FC. I don't know; perhaps nobody knows at this early stage of the FC market development. Lots of us got hot over ATM and (to a lesser extent) SSA in the last couple of years based on all kinds of hype about how they were The Next Big Thing. Well, they weren't, at least not in the markets ADPT cares about.

Therefore, my opinion is that if ADPT means what it says about being *the* I/O company, it had better place a few bets all around the table and keep emerging technologies at least at a simmer so the company can move quickly if markets head off in unexpected directions.

The above is not Wisdom; it should be obvious to corporate management.
