How would the "good news" about barrick explain the drop in abx at the same time that other companies saw a 10% Friday?

Apologies! Thank you
This would make total sense with my spiel ( see lemetropolecafe.com ). Peter Monk is clued in to the right people. If I am correct that the CB selling has or is about to end, he probably would know and he would know that this is the time to buy because this constant, overhead supply would be gone for years.
Would love any follow up that you have.

Bill

Tom - re ABX and possibly unwinding their hedge position. Funnily enough I was thinking of that just yesterday, and my thought was that at the very least Barrick must have an internal staff group considering this on an ongoing basis - and as a discipline. Their hedging program has been so innovative and successful that one would have to think the odds are against this move - but they have to be considering all the arguments pro and con. IMO there is no way that anyone on the street would have any actual knowledge of what they are thinking at Barrick, so the posting you used was just an intelligent guess by someone. E

"A very reliable source has told me that American Barrick are within days of making a decision to unwind their entire hedging program.."

More likely this: A brokerage house or hedge fund that owns the most reciepts puts out that rumour, because they want to dump there receipt shares at the closest break even point possible. And that the sold the dollar, bought yen, to pump out all of the reciepts. Look at it this way, would you want to be in Japan in the next few months. YEN overvalued, Gold over bought. Barrick Well let's get real... they can unwind whatever they want... But gold can only go up in a DEFLATION state, if Fed lowers, so will GOLD.

PS: But thanks for posting it here.
Rumours are worth nothing. I've heard better.

Noticed Hutch put U down so bad, U haven't posted much ABX since. I'm curious about any further utterances from your Kitco referenced source revealing further ABX lifting their hedge strategy info to which you refer in this post?

Appreciate your reply when you get the chance.

BTW, I posted one of the exhaustive references on my harddrive to the le metropole cafe thread of Bill Murphy's.

You'll find it under the "Coffee's On" thread under the James Joyce Table artwork. Two weeks free trial, or very reasonable annual mbrship required to access. Bill brought it up and then I answered him, b/c I couldn't remember who asked me where. Hope the information helps clarify some of the ABX very effective hedging program strategy.

Have a nice weekend!
